Holiday In Korea (18.12.09-23.12.09)

First of all i have to say, that this holiday trip is the best holiday i've ever had. Firstly its because i've never been to Korea, secondly, i enjoyed the weather there, -12 degrees winter time. I could just walk outside along the side road for hours without feeling tired and without breaking any sweat where as in Malaysia, i always sweat. It was a 6 days 4 nights trip, with 6 groups of family members.
Coincidently there was one family, apart from my cousin's family, who was from Kota Kemuning (the place where i live) was there too. I know one of the kid from the family, but i didnt know they were on the trip until i got to the airport and met them. Anyway, it was a 6 hours flight from KLIA to Inchion Airpot in Korea. The first thing i did when i landed was putting on my jacket and went outside to feel the cold weather, and it was really nice.

The first day was just basically getting to know each other, we introduced ourselves in the on the way to Seoul City. We had lunch at the Korean war museum, the restaurant was purposely located inside the museum for tourist to check it out. It was big, they had planes and guns exhibited there and some statues and what not. Shortly after that, we all went to the Blue House ( in USA it's white house), but we didnt exactly go in the house we just visited the park outside the Blue house.
The second day we went shopping in Myondong, the place is sort of like Bukit Bintang and the shopping malls are similar to Pavillion, Mid Valley, Etc. The shopping time was short because after that, we got out of the city and went to the Phoenix Ski Resort. I have to say, this was the highlight of the vacation, for the first time in 7 years, i had witnessed snow. It was a fun experienced. We went skiing for 3 hours from 8pm- 10 pm. Skiing is not as easy as i thought, it was very tiring and difficult to control and my legs were in pain. After a while i got use to it, but i still wasn't satisfied, because the timing was to short.

Then we visited some so call historic places in terms of film on the third day. The tour guide took us to 2 different shooting locations for the Winter Sonata series. The first was a market, i forgot the name of it. It's a simple market like petaling street, but the place was much better, cleaner and more lively. The second location was the Naminara Island, and boy i tell you, its a suitable place to have wedding, honeymoon and other romantic stuff because the Island was just so beautiful. No wonder Winter Sonata is a hit series there.
One thing that Korea is famous for is the food, in Malaysia the popular food is Nasi Lemak, in Korea the most popular food is KIMCHI. The tour Guide took us to a kimchi factory ( i couldn't remember which day), there we learn how to make kimchi, the easy way ofcourse. All we had to do was to put apply kimchi sauce onto a cut out cabbage and after that we ate some kimchi. We also tried on some Korean traditional clothes, im not sure what's it called but i think its something like kimono.
Eating here as a muslim was not that difficult as there are alot of  Pakistan and Moroccan restaurant in the middle of Seoul city. The restaurants are located around the one and only Mosque in Seoul. The setting of the place is like amsterdam and it goes uphill. Surprisingly, i came across a shop that sells shisha pipes. One thing that was an inconvenience was the communication, not many local people there could speak English, but luckily we had a girl (one of our tour guides) who could speak Korean, and she's a Malaysian and she use to study there.
All in all, i can say that this is the best holiday vacation iv ever had, and im glad to be there and i really like the weather there, its something that you cant get in Malaysia. I enjoyed spending time with my family and i think this was the only time i get to enjoy my holiday, and after this is back to college and stuff. This is the one place where i shall visit again. Even though the trip was tiring but i had loads of fun.
